When the idea for the Alabama Tribute band came up in the summer of 2019 it was critical that we find the right musicians and personalities to complete the band. When it came to the role of Jeff Cook my first instinct was to reach out to Megan Mullins Owen and Marcus Mullins.  Megan was already booked with another artist, but Marcus was available and gung ho for it.

Our first rehearsal was a bundle of nerves with very different personalities (but massive talent) coming together to recreate our version of the greatest band in history, Alabama. It took about two songs, but when Marcus pulled the bow across that fiddle on Tennessee River we knew we had the right group.

Over the past two years we have had the immense blessing of getting to know each other and appreciate our talents, our voices, and our ability to make music together. Marcus has been an incredible talent with an infectious smile and a crazy big heart. 

We’ve traveled to four states to play a handful of bars, an amphitheater, a city fireworks show, the world famous The Bowery, and our signature show in Fort Payne, Alabama to benefit the wonderful The SAM Foundation in their mission to educate the community on mental health and prevent suicide.

We are devastated to share that Marcus Mullins left this world in the fall of 2021.  While we mourn his loss as a band we focus our love and sympathy to Marcus’s family and friends.  Our show will never be the same, but we feel genuinely blessed to have had the time we had with Marcus. The world lost an incredibly talented musician, we lost a band mate, children lost their father, siblings lost their brother, and a mother and father lost their child.

Our hearts are with all those in Marcus’s family, and we hope to be able to honor Marcus with every note we are able to play when we can return to the stage.
